A group of singers from Rainbow Harmony Project will be performing in New York City Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the David Geffen Hall, in Lincoln Centre, New York City. Dr. Tim Seelig, the Artistic Director of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, will act as conductor and clinician for the residency for the performance of Portraits of Healing: Tyler's Suite and the Music of Ola Gjeilo.
This opportunity was made possible through an invitation to the Rainbow Harmony Project in May 2016, and, to quote Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for DCINY, “The Rainbow Harmony Project received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers as well as the exceptional recommendation given by Tim Seelig.
It is quite an honor just to be invited to perform in New York. These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community. This is an event of extreme pride for everybody and deserving of the community’s recognition and support.”
Tyler's Suite is a new and lauded nine-piece choral movement dedicated to the memory of Tyler Clementi, a talented young musician who committed suicide after being bullied by his roommate during his first weeks of college.
Tyler's Suite explores the voices and experiences of Tyler and his family, and ultimately shines a light of hope and endless possibility thanks to the music of today's top composers including Ann Hampton Callaway, John Corigliano, Stephen Flaherty, Jake Heggie, and Stephen Schwartz.
The Tyler Clementi Foundation (TCF), guided by the life and story of Tyler Clementi, works to end online and offline bullying in schools, workplaces and faith communities. We promote safe, inclusive and respectful social environments in homes, schools, campuses, churches and the digital world for vulnerable youth, LGBT youth and their allies.
